Get the Support You Need To Become a Graduate

Our organization selects young women with exceptional academic achievement from Central Florida high schools and mentors them throughout their four years of college and beyond. We know that low income and first-generation students need the support of mentors and scholarships to accomplish their goal of graduating from college. Through our one-of-a-kind program, students have a better chance to fulfill their dreams of becoming college graduates.

Each scholar chosen receives:


  • Trained Mentor
  • $10,000 Scholarship (paid in increments throughout their four years of college)
  • Complete Dorm Room Provisions
  • Laptop Computer
  • Support Team of Professional Women for contacts and internships
  • Sisterhood of Scholars and Graduates

Class of 2029 Dates & Deadlines

Application Opens

Online applications open on this day and able to be completed until February 1st. 

Application Closes

All applications and supporting documents must be submitted by 11:59 PM on February 1st. 

Interview Notification

All applicants will be notified whether or not they are invited to interview.

Scholar Interview Days.

Selected applicants will be invited to to participate in a thirty minute panel interview on one of these two days. 


Decisions Released

Selected Scholars will be notified of their acceptance into SOS.

Mentor Scholar Boot Camp

On this day, chosen Scholars will meet their mentors and hear from a panel of current Scholars.

Induction Lunch

This is the formal welcome of the Class of 2029 into the SOS Sisterhood where selected Scholars will meet current SOS Scholars and graduates

Dorm Shower

Scholars will receive all the essentials for their dorm room and celebrate the start of their college journey at this breakfast or lunch event.

How to Apply

To become an SOS Scholar, you must fill out the online application and provide the following documents.

You can upload an unofficial copy of your transcript with your application. If you would like to mail an official copy it can be mailed to: 225 S. Swoope Ave, Ste. 101 Maitland, F 32751.

Two letters of recommendation are required for the application. One letter must come from a guidance counselor or teacher. The best letters of recommendation address how you as a student would benefit from having a mentor in college.

Please provide a 500-700 word personal statement detailing why you should be selected for our program. Make sure to include how a mentor will contribute to or aid in your success, your future goals and objectives, and how receiving this award will impact your life.



To gain access to your SAR report:


Go to fafsa.gov.

Log In and enter your FSA ID on the left. Only you should know or use your FSA ID.

Select View or Print your Student Aid Report (SAR) from the "My FAFSA" page.

Print a hard copy and scan it or print to a PDF.

Provide a copy of your parent or legal guardian’s 2021 or 2022 1040 tax form.

SOS Scholars must be a US Citizen or lawful permanent resident. Please provide a copy of one of the following documents to verify eligibility:

Certificate of Naturalization
